lyrics

Dublin City Fever Dream
Trudging up Grafton Street
I’ve got the lead bound to my feet
Dublin city’s caving in
Caving in on me
I hear a whistle float down on the wind
Cuts through the fog in my mind
It’s a cold soul in a sleeping bag
Playing Down By The Glenside

They killed God! D’you have a lighter?
I’m beginning to fear that the screams of the night might
Carry on into the morning
Give us a tune! It’s an all nighter!
Anxiety’s freezing my chest, won’t be leaving my lungs
Til the day is dawning

Glory Oh, Glory Oh x4

They say you can’t love somebody else
Until you properly love yourself
I hope it’s not true cos I think I love her
I think I really love her I do
And the tunes tear through the sky
Over the suits that are passing us by
He plays Dark is the colour of my true love’s hair
And I’m feeling high as a kite

They killed God! D’you have a lighter?
I’m beginning to fear that the screams of the night might
Carry on into the morning
Give us a tune! It’s an all nighter!
Anxiety’s freezing my chest won’t be leaving my lungs
Til the day is dawning

Glory Oh, Glory Oh x4

Don’t let the bastards get you down, he says,
As much to me as to himself
He says he once told Kavanagh up by the canal
It was no wonder he was left on the shelf
One more tune before we say our goodbyes
He says he’s soon heading into the Joy
Cos he got caught squatting in an old hotel
When he didn’t have a bed for the night

They killed God! D’you have a lighter?
I’m beginning to fear that the screams of the night might
Carry on into the morning
Give us a tune! It’s an all nighter!
Anxiety’s freezing my chest won’t be leaving my lungs
Til the day is dawning

Glory Oh, Glory Oh x4
